DIY Natural Bug Spray

DIY Natural Bug Spray

We are heading out for the weekend to camp in the woods! Normally I would be anxious about how many bug-bites myself and my kids would get hiking, playing and camping in the forest. But not this time! It’s so empowering to know I can make my own, non-toxic insect repellent that I can safely use on my kids’ skin. I can spray it around the picnic table and tent and know that it’s safe, effective and affordable.

What you will need:

  • TerraShield essential oil
  • Witch Hazel
  • amber glass mini spray bottle

Instructions: The average mini spray bottle is 1-2 oz. Fill with water, and add 15-20 drops TerraShield essential oil. Gently mix before spraying.

NOTE: If you prefer to make a to-go applicator, add 1 Tbsp of oil (I suggest grapeseed oil) to a glass roller ball with 8-10 drops of the TerraShield oil.

Because this is all natural, frequent re-application will provide the best benefits. On the body, spray back of neck, wrists and/or ankles. Spray around your campsite frequently as well.
