Spiced Orange Sugar Scrub
Sugar scrubs are one of the easiest DIY beauty treatments you can make. There are (2) basic ingredients in every scrub – sugar
Ingredients:
- 1 c sugar (brown, white, or 50/50 mix)
- 1/2 c coconut oil
- 1/2 t pumpkin pie spice
- 6-8 drops of orange essential oil
Sometimes it’s hard to overpower the smell of the coconut oil, so I tend to be heavy-handed with the spices and essential oils. You can gradually add both until you’ve reached the intensity of the scent that is most appealing to you. I added the orange essential oil not only for the uplifting scent but also because this oil has been known to stimulate the circulation of blood which reduces swelling and inflammation, it has also been known to clear clogged pores and reduce the signs of premature aging.
Keep the scrub in a glass jar (essential oils can degrade plastic) in your bathroom. Apply during your shower and rinse well. Be careful once you’re done, the shower floor will be slippery. I use sugar scrubs once a week to keep my skin soft and smooth!
