How to Make Brown Sugar
I have had a love for brown sugar for a long time. I adjust almost every dessert recipe I make to include a mix of white and brown sugar because it adds such an amazing flavor to everything. EVERYTHING. I have yet to find something that brown sugar does not make better. I was recently told by a friend that brown sugar is easy to make. I mean, so easy that I almost didn’t write this post. But I thought it was only fair that I share just how easy it is.
Here is what you need:
- 1 c white sugar
- 1 tbsp molasses
- fork or mixer
- bowl
Add your sugar and molasses to a bowl. If you like dark brown sugar you can add more molasses, about a 1/2 tbsp more per cup of sugar.
Mix the two ingredients together with a mixer or a fork. If you use a mixer, you may have to finish the mixing with a fork to get rid of the lump of molasses. I usually just use a fork because it’s easier to wash than my mixer.
One all of the lumps are fully mixed you’re done! Here is the finished result, you can’t even tell it’s homemade and it tastes delicious!
Now that you know how easy it is to make your own brown sugar, what recipe will you use it in?
