All Natural DIY Deodorant

This spring break, take some time for yourself and your personal health. Like me, you’ve probably heard the rumors that underarm antiperspirant has been linked to breast cancer. There are some retail brands out there that are made from natural ingredients, but I did not find them effective and they are very expensive. After doing some research on how to make an easy, and effective deodorant, I came up with this great recipe. In addition to using this myself, I’ve gotten great feedback from several friends who’ve sampled, and loved it too!

DIY Natural Deodorant

You probably have most of the ingredients in your pantry, but one of the key items is the On Guard essential oil which not only offers a wonderful scent, but also provides great therapeutic benefits because of it’s antiviral, anti-fungal, antibacterial properties. You can smell great and protect your immune system, just by using this DIY deodorant recipe!

You will Need:

Directions:
Add the coconut oil, and beeswax pellets to a small saucepan. Slowly melt over VERY low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and add baking soda, and corn starch. Mix with a spoon until smooth and creamy in consistency, then add the essential oils and pour into your containers. Mason jars work well, you can also find empty deodorant containers on Amazon. Let stand to cool and solidify. Rub onto underarm like you would a lotion.

Is your deodorant safe?

I bought a big chunk of beeswax at Whole Foods, but they don’t carry it all the time. You can try a health food store or maybe a farmers market. the only draw back is if you buy the big piece you have to grate it. You can always order the pellets from Amazon too. Here’s a link: Beeswax Organic Pastilles . -Monika

Can anything be substituted for the beeswax pellets? Allergies prevent me from using beeswax.

You might be able to use Carnauba Wax. It’s a bit harder than beeswax so you would have to reduce the amount you use, although I don’t know by how much. You may just have to experiment with it. Hope that helps, thanks! monika
