Amazon Perks: Prime Benefit Basics
I recently received an email from Amazon reminding me that my Prime membership was going to renew soon. I logged in to make sure that I had my payment set up correctly and something caught my eye. I have been an Amazon member for 15 years, and of those I have been a Prime member for 10 years! In that time the program has grown to offer so much more that just expedited shipping. Over the last 2 years Amazon has added so many program and benefits that I can’t even keep up! So, I decided to dive in and do some research on every discount and promotion, coupon, sample, video, book, etc that Amazon Prime members receive. The series is called Amazon Perks, and today we’re going to start with the basics.
Prime Shipping – Free 2 Day, 1, Day & Same Day
My #1 reason for having Amazon Prime is the free 2-Day shipping. I always wait until the last minute to order things I need, so Prime Shipping has saved me more than once! But did you also know you can get Same-Day shipping on orders of $35 or more? In more than 8,000 cities and towns, you can place an order for at least $35 before the cutoff time (typically noon), and your stuff will arrive before 9 p.m. the same day or the next. Just look for the FREE Same-Day or FREE 1-Day logos. Check your ZIP Code to see whether you are eligible.
Or, if you aren’t like me and do place your orders in a timely manner there’s FREE No-Rush Shipping at checkout. You can earn rewards for future purchases and your order will arrive in six business days. Rewards can be used to purchase eBooks, movies on Amazon Video, or Prime Pantry items such as groceries and daily essentials.
Lastly, there’s FREE Release-Date Delivery. You could be among the first to get new video games, books, music, movies and more on the release day. Choose Release-Date Delivery at checkout on qualified items, and your package will be delivered by 7 p.m. on that date. Prime members receive free delivery on eligible orders. FreeTime Unlimited
Discover the books, videos, educational apps, and games kids enjoy in FreeTime through Parent Dashboard. Also, gain access to child activity and manage settings that include adding content from your personal library, setting daily time limits, modifying web browser behavior, pausing the device, and more. FreeTime lets parents set daily limits, or restrict certain categories – like apps and video – while leaving unlimited time for reading.
Parents can create up to four individual child profiles and give each child selected access to videos, books, Audible content, and apps from their personal library. It’s like giving each kid their very own personalized tablet or mobile device. While in FreeTime Unlimited, kids don’t have access to social media and can’t make in-app purchases without parental approvals.
Prime Members can pay a discounted rate for FreeTime – $2.99/month for (1) child, $6.99 for a Family (4 children), or $83/year.
Exclusively for Prime members, Dash Buttons are shortcuts to quickly find and reorder your favorite products on Amazon’s mobile app and website. Dash Buttons are available for tens of millions of products that ship with Prime. And Dash Buttons are free, so you can add as many as you want.
You can find Dash Buttons on the Amazon home page, or at Your Dash Buttons, where you can sort, label, or delete your buttons. If you’ve purchased a product on Amazon that is typically reordered, we will automatically create a Dash Button for you. You can add new Dash Buttons from the product details page of any product available with Prime shipping. Just press the white Buy button to order. All orders ship free via Prime. You can always cancel an order within 30 minutes if you make a mistake.
