Celebrating Extraordinary Moments Everyday
Becoming a mother changed me. I didn’t think that it would, and I thought I knew what to expect but I didn’t. I grew up in a large family and I have two sisters that are several years younger so I experienced what it was like to care for babies, or at least I thought I did. My daughter was born one week late, early in the morning on a Friday. It was a tough labor – 28 hours. But the moment that I held her for the first time, I was changed. My heart was filled with love and happiness like I had never felt before.
Almost seven years later I still feel like the luckiest person in the world to be her mom. She surprises me every day as she grows into a smart and lively young lady. While each day is not without it’s own struggles, I try to remember that it’s the little things that make each day with her extraordinary. She enjoys arts and crafts, which make a mess with her paper, pencils, glitter, etc. but she is so happy to showcase her art all over the house. She likes to make her own meals and talks while she’s preparing it as if she’s on a TV cooking show. It’s adorable! But my favorite is the way she sings at the top of her lungs outside for all the neighbors to hear. Her spirit and light fill my heart each and every day!
My daughter doesn’t excel in sports or get trophies for winning spelling bees. She’s not a prodigy, but everything she does amazes me. Every day with her is a new adventure as we discover how extraordinary life’s little moments can be. You can celebrate your child’s extraordinary moments by creating a short video on the Stanford Children’s Health website. All you have to do is upload a few pictures and then you can share it with your friends and family.
Stanford Children’s Health and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford has been the top-ranked children’s hospital in Northern California for over a decade. We live in Southern California, but I have relatives up North. My cousin’s daughter has cystic fibrosis and the doctors at Stanford Children’s Health have been amazing! They are the largest Bay Area healthcare provider with an exclusive focus on children and expectant women. Whether your visit is routine or rare, Stanford Children’s Health is committed to providing extraordinary care for healthier happy lives.
Your kid is extraordinary. Show them how much you enjoy every moment together by creating a special video of your own!
