Childrens Weekly Chore Chart
My daughter’s first day of school was yesterday. Yes, you read that right – it was yesterday. Most schools have been in session for weeks, but for whatever reason, we have only just begun. While I love the warm days of summer spent sitting outside watching the kids playing in the sprinklers, I also love it when school starts. The kids have been bored for weeks which leads to fighting and yelling and general chaos. To add to this, it’s been 100+ degrees here in Southern California so they haven’t been able to spend as much time outside to get their energy out either!

But now that school has started we have solved the boredom issue and can get back to our regular routine. We all wake up at a certain time, get dressed, walk my daughter to school and then it’s on without day. My oldest son goes to preschool two days a week so he is also enjoying some time away from home. During summer we tend to slack off on daily chores since we don’t adhere to a schedule or have a set bedtime, but now is the time to get back to it!
I have printed out this weekly chore list to keep us in check. I’ve also added some incentive to teach the kids that hard work pays off, literally. For every week that they complete all of their daily chores, they will receive $5.00 that can be used for whatever they want, within reason. My daughter likes to pick out a few things from the Target $1 bins, and my son usually goes for the toys. Either way, I feel like this is a win-win situation. Chores get done, work has value and the kids get a much-deserved reward.
