Homemade Laundry Booster
Laundry is one of those chores that I can’t stand. I can handle dishes and sweeping, even vacuuming. But laundry just drives me crazy! Maybe it’s because I have 6-7 loads to wash, dry, and fold every week. It never ends!
One of the challenges that I have is that my kids and I all have sensitive skin, so I need to stay away from detergents with fragrance, dyes, and as little chemicals as possible. The ingredients in this booster haven’t irritated our skin and have improved our laundry, allowing me to reduce the amount of my detergent I use in each wash.
This mix lasts about (2) weeks for my family, it may last longer if you have less laundry.
- 2 c Borax
- 2 c Baking Soda
- 1 c Epsom Salt
There are several reasons why I used these (3) ingredients. Together they can:
- Whiten whites
- Increases the potency of bleach (so you can use less)
- Softens water
- Neutralize odors
- Disinfect
- Increase the stain-removal ability of your detergent
The measurements I use per load are:
1/4c small/med
1/2 med/large
3/4c xl
So far, I am very happy with how this mix has improved my laundry. I also stopped using fabric softener, except with my towels. I like big fluffy towels, but I don’t use as much softener as I used to. Just a splash. If you start to use this booster, comment below with your thoughts!
