Natural Relief for Eczema
Do you or someone you love suffer from eczema? I do. This uncomfortable skin allergy can arise from many environmental factors and is often treated with steroidal creams and anti-histamines. Our skin is the largest organ of our body and provides a barrier from the outside world to our “inside” world. Everything that we put on our skin is absorbed within seconds and enters our circulatory system, and then is distributed to our “inside” world. Which means those creams and steroids are absorbed into our circulatory system and dispersed throughout the body.
I have found incredible relief from the use of Lavender and Tea Tree essential oils, and so have many of my friends! This ointment recipe can be used for all kinds of ailments besides eczema, such as a remedy for diaper rash, bug bites, scrapes, sunburns, hand lotion, and many other minor skin conditions!
Ingredients:
- 1/2 Cup Organic Coconut Oil (antibacterial, antifungal)
- 4 drops Lavender essential oil (natural antihistamine, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal)
- 4 drops Tea Tree essential oil (helps with skin cellular repair, antibacterial, antifungal)
Directions: Melt coconut oil over a double boiler or in a mason jar over hot water. Once the melted coconut oil has cooled, add the essential oils and stir. Pour into glass containers (or leave in the mason jar) to store, and use as often as you’d like (for eczema, use 4-5 times a day until resolved). The mixture will re-solidify. Store at room temperature. If it becomes too hot in your home and the mixture melts, you can store it in the fridge.

I love this as a solution compared to the steroid creme! Thank you for sharing it!
You are welcome! Many people I know have really benefited from this recipe, please let us know how it works for you!
I have a stubborn patch on my eyelind tha keeps coming back–so annoying. I’m going to try this.
I was told by my children’s pediatrician that I have ezcema on my hands (but that’s the only part of my body affected & it’s generally worse during the winter time). I find that if I avoid direct contact with harsh cleaners and keep my hand moisturized well (because I wash them, a lot) that it’s not that bad. I may have to try this more natural approach, though, and see if it works better. Thanks!
Great tip! I have bad eczema on my hands that flares frequently. Although I have a steroid cream that I use very sparingly, this sounds like a much better solution.
