Easy DIY Fabric Bracelets

Last Christmas my daughter and I made fabric bracelets to match her Christmas outfit. We haven’t made them since, and the other day she asked if we could make them again so we did! They are very easy to make and take little time. You just need some fabric scraps and a few embellishments to get started.

First, figure out how long you want your bracelets to be. Measure your wrist and add 1″ to make sure you have enough room for the bracelet closure, I measured 7″ + 1″ = 8″. Then add at least 1/2″ to that for trim. I wanted my bracelets to be 1 1/2″ wide, so I added 1/2″ for trim which means my fabric pieces need to be 8 1/2″ x 2″.

I cut a few coordinating fabric scraps to this length, then cut strips of iron on adhesive (I used Heat N Bond Lite) just slightly smaller. Apply the iron on adhesive according to the package instructions to the wrong side of 1 of your fabric pieces per bracelet. Once the fabric has cooled down, peel off the paper backing and iron the front and back of your bracelets together then cut your pieces down to the size you want your finished bracelet.

I topstitched my bracelets 1/4″ around the edge using a few different stitch patterns to give them a little extra detail.

Next you need to add your closure to each side 1/2″ from the edge. I like to use snap closures, they are easy to add and hold the best. You can also use a button or Velcro closure.

Lastly, you can add your embellishments if you like such as buttons, beads or sequins. You can also stitch patterns onto the bracelets, or just leave them as is if you like the print!

The possibilities are endless when it comes to these bracelets. You can choose all sorts of colors and patterns, customize them to you style.
