Gratitude: What are you grateful for?
It makes me so sad when clients continually harp on the smallest things. “It’s been six weeks I haven’t noticed any change.” Really? Because what I see is that your push up strength has improved by 27%, and you ran a 14 minute mile on day one and yesterday ran it in 12 minutes. That is a lot of change!
“Ohhh I hate this flapping under my arms it’s so ugly” or “My butt is so flat and droopy”
Listen friends, give your self a break! Hating on your body does no good. Put your health and fitness at the forefront of your priorities, and then give yourself a huge dose of positive self talk.
Write a list everyday of the 5 things about your body you are most grateful for. This will really enforce the positive self talk. They do not have to be the things you like physically about your body, they can be the functionality of your body as well.
- I am grateful for really healthy feet that have allowed me to run around the park with my kids, walk around Disneyland and support me through the years.
- I am really grateful for my skin being very soft so I can cuddle my babies and spouse.
- I am grateful for a healthy heart that is filled with love and kindness and keeps me healthy
- I am grateful for my strong back, I can pick my babies up and carry them around everywhere. I can garden and work on my projects pain free.
- I am grateful for my hands, my ability to grab things, lift things. Hold my kiddos and my husband.
Now go and make your list. Do it everyday and then get your workout in. You will feel a million times better!
