Halloween Shadows Frame
As you know I’ve been working with Sizzix for the past few months and I just love it! Every time I visit their site, I just fall in love all over again with their dies. My latest crush is this Halloween Shadows Decorative Strip Die by Tim Holtz. I wasn’t sure what I would make with it at first, but I knew I had to have it. I decided to make a frame for my kids’ Halloween picture using a $1 frame I bought at Micheal’s. This frame is perfect for a picture from Instagram because let’s face it – on Halloween night I won’t be carrying around my DSLR camera. I’ll probably be posting pics to Instagram!
Supplies:
- Big Shot machine
- Sizzix Cutting Pads
- Sizzix Multipurpose Platform
- Sizzix Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die – Halloween Shadows
- colored paper
- frame
- paint
- paintbrush
- glue
Directions:
Start by painting your frame. I applied Martha Stewart Craft paint in Gray Wolf with a foam brush using uneven strokes for an unfinished look.
Next, use your Sizzix Big Shot machine and the Sizzix Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die – Halloween Shadows to die cut the shapes you need. Your Sizzix Sandwich will be: platform, cutting pad, paper, die, cutting pad. I used the Tim Holtz Kraft-Core Cardstock Sheets for my shapes because I like the texture that it has.
Now, glue your pieces to the frame. For small pieces like this, I like to use a glue pen with a fine tip like Aleene’s Turbo Tacky Glue Pen.
Here is the finished frame. In retrospect, I would have used a darker color for the tree so that it stood out more. I think it gets lost, but I still like the way the frame turned out!
