This past weekend my family and I had the opportunity to visit the Discover Cube in Santa Ana, CA. While there we attended a media event where we were able to meet and listen to the Co-Director, Galen Chu, and Head of Story, Jony Chandra, of ICE AGE: Collision Course. We learned about the process for making the film, how to draw a few of our favorite characters, and watched some funny shorts and clips!
About the film:

While at the Discover Cube we toured a few of the exhibits also. Our first stop was Mission Control, this is a replica of the Jet Propulsion Lab’s control room for the ultimate hands-on space mission. The kids were able to simulate landing a rover on Mars, sending a satellite up to space, and docking at the International Space Station. Our next stop was the Planetary Research Station. Using a large globe in the middle of the room, we learned what the Earth would look like in the future as a result of global warming.
Next, we visited the Science of Hockey. If you have seen the movie, you know that Manny and Peaches love to play hockey! We learned about friction, velocity, and impact. But most important, we got to experience what it’s like to be a goalie! We’re a big hockey family, so this was by far our favorite exhibit!
Visiting the Discovery Cube was a great way to help relate the events of the movie with how space, asteroids, and cosmic events really work. You can get more details about the exhibits I mentioned above here: Discovery Cube OC
