Pillow Box Thank You Gift
As the school year comes to an end I’m faced with a familiar struggle – teacher gifts. For some reason I have such a hard time with deciding what the give my kids’ teachers at the end of the year! I usually end up giving them a gift certificate, which is what this tutorial was supposed to be for. I thought that this pillow box would be cute envelope for a gift certificate, but unfortunately the gift cards were too big. So instead I decided to use these pillow box to fill with chocolates to give to the support staff! Ready to get started? Let’s get our supplies together.
Supplies:
- Sizzix Big Shot
- Cutting Pads
- Crease Pad
- Magnetic Platform
- Sizzix Bigz Die – Pillow Box
- Sizzix Framelits Die Set 7PK – Flowers
- Sizzix Framelits Die Set 9PK w/Stamps – Tags
- Cardstock
- Ribbon
- Glue or double sided tape
- Scissors
Using your Sizzix Big Shot and Cutting Pads, die cut your pillow box using printed cardstock and the Sizzix Bigz Die – Pillow Box. This die has folds used to assemble the box so you can use the Sizzix Crease Pad to make the lines for defined for easy assembly.
I used the Sizzix Framelits Die Set 7PK – Flowers to die cut my embellishments along with the Sizzix Magnetic Platform to keep the die in place while die cutting.
Next I used the Sizzix Framelits Die Set w/Stamps – Tags and the Magnetic Platform to stamp a To and From and die cut with a hang tag die.
Once you have all of your paper pieces die cut, gather your additional supplies and embellishments.
Apply glue, or double sided tape to the closure tab and fold your pillow box closed.
Both ends of the pillow box will fold close once you have filled the box with your treats.
I chose to tape the flower embellishments to the box under the ribbon instead of on top because the box is so small and when placed on top they seemed too large, it also looked nice too.
Lastly, I used embroidery thread to tie on the hang tag. I wanted to use bakery twine, but I wasn’t able to find any in my craft room. Hopefully it will show up sometime before my next project!
