Using the power of 5 to reach your goals!
Have you ever heard of the success principle called The Power of 5? It is often used to help people cut seemingly impossible tasks into more manageable slices. For example, if you are wanting to write a book you focus on writing 5 pages a day. This seems much more reasonable than say, writing a few chapters. If you are starting a network marketing business start by contacting just 5 people everyday to tell them about your product. Again, this seems much more reasonable than a giant list of 50 people.
So how can you apply the power of 5 to your fitness and weight loss goals? There are lots of ways!
- Pick 5 exercises to do everyday for 5 reps each. Squats, push-ups, sit ups, lunges, lateral lunges – just to name a few. By the time you finish you’ll most likely be warmed up and ready to do more. But don’t worry if you don’t because at least you did these!
- Add in 5 slices of fruit to your breakfast – 5 strawberries, 5 apple slices, etc.
- Take 5 min to thoroughly stretch, especially at the end of a long day at the office or with kids, your back will feel amazing!
- Commit to 5 days a week of 20 minutes of walking instead of an entire hour. Don’t get in the car to go to the gym, simply wake up put your sneakers on then head out the door.
- Take 5 min to meditate everyday to decrease stress and increase endorphins.
While separately this list looks pretty small if you stick to the power of 5 everyday, at the end of the year you would have less back pain and stiffness, most likely lower cholesterol and lower blood pressure and most likely you’d have dropped a few pounds!
