Weekly Journal Prompts: #1
If you’ve been following my Journaling Basics series and you’ve discovered your why, chosen what type of journaling you want to do, and created a setup for the best possible success but still don’t know exactly what to write about, then you’re in the right place. I will be sharing the weekly prompts that I’m using to reach my goal of self-discovery and making the events and actions in my daily life more intentional. Hopefully these prompts will inspire you to keep journaling, or find your own path!
I recommend starting the first few pages of your journal detailing your goals for journaling or with a brief description of your “Why” so that you can refer back to it if you lose your way. Ready for this week’s prompt? Let’s
How will this year be different from last year?
Start with listing what changes you want to make this year. List them all, no change is too small. Then, take your time and write down why you want to make these changes. Why is it important? What difference will it make in your life? Next, look at each change and write down a few ways you can make that happen.
When you’re done look back at what you wrote. Are these things that are going to make your life better? Are they important enough that they are worth spending your time and energy working on them?
In my opinion, if something is not going to make my life better or more fulfilling then it goes to the bottom of the list of things to change. I want to focus
As always, remember that journaling is different for everyone. There are no rules. You can write in the style you want, write as much or as little as you want. Any journal and pens or pencils will do, you don’t have to get fancy. The most important aspect of journaling is to be consistent. Having a weekly prompt helps me, but it might be easier for you to write freely. Find out what work, try a few different ways, and stick to it!
